AXIS UK competition team 2010

 

 

Adam Hill (uk) joined the AXIS UK team in 2009.
Adam lives in Pokhara, Nepal, where he runs 'Frontiers
Paragliding'
.
He started flying in 1994 and has spent all his time since
in the Himalayas. He started the first paragliding outfits in Nepal
in 1995 and Bhutan in 2006.

Adan has only been competing seriously for one season and has already grabbed some impressive results.
7th British Open Pedro Bernardo 2008, 5th Pre-PWC India 2008, 1st Nepal Open 2005
His passion is introducing the Himalayas to pilots.
"I get a great deal of pleasure teaching and guiding in these mountains. Flying is also a great excuse to visit some pretty interesting places"






Sebastian Ospina
joins the AXIS UK team in 2010.
Seb started to fly in 2004 at the age of 14!
His first competition was in 2006 and he placed 9th overall
then placed 7th and 8th in other competitions that year .
In 2007 he flew in the Pre PWC in Colombia where he was ranked 39 out of 90 pilots. He was placed 14th in the Colombian league in 2006 and 2007 and was' Best Newcomer' in 2006.
Seb now flies an Axis Mercury 08 and will be competing in the 2010 Pre World Cup in Colombia in January and the British Nationals.







Kelly Farina (uk)
joined the AXIS UK team in 2007
Kelly finished 4th overall in the British championship in 2005,
securing a place on the National Team.
Flying a huge amount in his home town of Mayrhofen, Austria, where he operates 'Austrian Arena', Kelly trains with some of the World's best pilots all year, every year!
Best Results in Cat 2 Open - 3rd Overall Dutch Open 2005 & 4th in British Open 2005.

"I love flying paragliders in weird and wonderful places, places I'd probably never go to otherwise. Racing and flying XC with friends has got to be some of the best memories I have"





Charlie Merrett (uk)
joined the AXIS UK team in 2008
Charlie qualified in Dec 2001, started competing in 2003
and came 12th in the UK Nationals and won Best Newcomer.
He represented the UK in the victorious 2004 Bleriot Cup team.
After an accident in 2005, he moved to flying serial wings in 2006 and won Serial Class in the South African Nationals in Barberton (9th overall)
He has flown over 100km in the UK setting a new site record on the South Downs ...................stolen from Wagga :-)





Nicky Moss (uk)
joined the AXISpara factory team in 2006
.
Spanish Female Champion 2008, Female Champion
British Open Àger 2006, Australian Open female Champion
2004 & Himalayan Open female Champion 2004.
Member of the British team 2004, 2005 and 2007.
Nicky lives in Spain, spends part of the winter somewhere warm in South America and summer based in Àger where she runs FlyÀger.com paragliding guiding and SIV training.

"Paragliding has taken me into the most amazing scenery and allowed me to share the air with those who truly below there. Flights with birds are always the most memorable for me, but there is nothing like the feeling of flying XC with friends, laughing and singing together at cloudbase"

AXIS UK XC team 2010





Gordon Bishop (uk) joined the AXIS UK XC team in 2008.
Gordon won the DHV 1/2, EN-B class of the 2007 XC league
sponsored by AXIS UK and chose the Vega II as his reward.
We are looking forward to watching him climb the ranking in 2010.






Judith Mole joined the Axis UK XC team in 2010.
Judith is probably best known as the voice in the paragliding
podcasts at www.judithmole.net.
She started flying cross country in 2007 and came second
placed woman (and 39th overall in the Uk XCleague) in 2008 and won
the EN-B class in 2010 coming 35th overall with the longest EN-B flight of the season.
She is generally more concerned with having fun than getting results but loves to go over the back and see where the flight takes her.
She chose the Vega II for the current season because she describes it as
"confidence inspiring, with good performance and it turns like a dream."





Kai Coleman (uk)
joined the AXIS UK team in 2007.

Kai began Flying in 1998 and became British XC league
Champion in 2002, 2nd 2003, and 2nd again in 2004 and 2008.
British Open Distance record -190.9km - held from 2004 till 2007
Best Result in British Championship – 4th overall in 2006
Best comp result – 6th in British Open Portugal 2006 and 6th in British Open UK 2007
Best Task Result – 2nd in Pre-World Championship in G.V. Brazil 2004

"I really enjoy the unusual places that paragliding has taken me, such as Mexico and Brazil. I keep very busy with 3 little children and a successful small electronic design and manufacture business. I am competitive in the sports that I play, including squash and of course paragliding"
